Field Visit on Plastic Recycling in Hong Kong

Led by Prof. Sai Kishore Ravi, students took part in a field visit to New Life Plastics and Swire Coca-Cola to gain firsthand exposure to Hong Kong’s circular economy in practice. The visit linked classroom discussions on sustainability with real-world systems, covering community collection, food-grade plastic recycling, and the closed-loop production of new rPET beverage bottles. The experience provided an integrated view of how waste recovery, recycling infrastructure, and industrial manufacturing connect to enable circular materials systems.
